Rooftops, Brownstones, Patios, Backyards & Private Event Spaces
New York parties often take place in rooftops, brownstone backyards, terraces, patios, townhouses, private residences, and approved rental properties. The best setup is a flat, dry, safe, and well-ventilated cooking area with enough room for the chef and grill.
A Private Chef Experience Without Moving the Party
Instead of leaving your guests to travel to a restaurant, hibachi at home keeps dinner and entertainment together in one place. The chef cooks in front of the group, interacts with guests, and turns the meal into part of the celebration.

New York Hibachi at Home FAQ
Quick answers before booking your private hibachi chef in New York.
Do you offer hibachi at home in New York?
Yes. Hibachi A1A provides private hibachi at home in New York City and select nearby areas, depending on the event location, date, and chef availability.
How much does a New York hibachi party cost?
Basic is $50 per adult with 2 selections. Premium is $60 per adult with 3 selections. Kids are $30 with 1 selection. The event minimum is $500.
Is a deposit required to book?
Yes. A $50 deposit is required to reserve your date and is applied toward your final balance.
Do you serve Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens?
Yes. We commonly serve Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, and many nearby New York neighborhoods depending on availability and the event setup.
Do you serve Long Island and Westchester?
Yes, select Long Island and Westchester events can be accommodated depending on date, travel distance, and chef availability.
Can you cook on a rooftop, terrace, patio, or brownstone backyard?
Often, yes. The cooking area must be permitted by the property, flat, dry, safe, and well ventilated, with enough room for the chef and grill. Building and rental-property rules still apply.
What does the hibachi experience include?
We bring the chef, grill, food, cooking tools, and hibachi entertainment. Your meal includes salad, hibachi fried rice, vegetables, and the protein selections included with your package.
When do we send the final guest count and protein selections?
You can book first. Please text us your final guest count, protein selections, and any add-ons about 3 days before the party.
Can you accommodate allergies or special requests?
Usually, yes. Please tell us in advance about any allergies or special requests. If you need a specific gluten-free sauce, olive oil, avocado oil, or another specialty product, please have it ready for the chef. We can adjust the cooking order when possible; for guests avoiding seafood, we can prepare their food first and cook seafood last to help reduce cross-contact. Because the cooking surface and tools are shared, we cannot guarantee a completely allergen-free environment.
What do we need to prepare?
Please provide tables, chairs, plates, utensils, napkins, and a dry, flat, well-ventilated cooking area. Table and chair setup may be available for $15 per guest and should be reserved in advance, subject to availability.
What happens if it rains?
A covered outdoor area works best. A safe indoor area may also work if it is well ventilated and there is enough space for the chef and grill. Garages and covered patios are common backup options when permitted.
How do we pay the remaining balance?
The remaining balance is usually paid directly to the chef on party day. Cash is preferred, and Zelle or Venmo may also be used. Credit card payment can be arranged in advance and includes a 4% processing fee.
Is there a travel fee?
Travel fees vary by event location. Use the Quick Service Check or text us your ZIP code and party date so we can confirm the exact fee.
